special thanks to thomas of the building department inspection division and dan frost of the electrical division who received letters of appreciation from dbi customers. thank you for their good work there. we also convey our heart-felt sympathies and the family of former staffer, ray louy on the passing of his father paul, and a much reported engineer who added significantly to san francisco throughout his lifetime. so our condolences to his family. thanks to all, to those who were able to attend the dbi holiday party in december. we had a terrific turn out of staff and family and we loved having all of the children there at the party. my child had a melt down about not getting a tie. we had to take him out early. >> a special thanks to the team of volunteers that included a staff from all of the divisions for making this event such a success as well as to tom huoy and. dbi managers who donated personally to put this party on and so we greatly appreciate that and it is a good morale and it was a special effort on your behalf to do this. thank you tom and your senior management. and tha

i am substituting today for dan murphy, who has been ill for a while and we thought we better get these recommendations to you as quickly as we could. i am presenting recommendations. we came up with at our october and december meetings of last year. the first two concern church street and transit improvements there. the mta cac recommends that both the church street transit-only lane and the 76x marin express pilot projects proceed as presented. the cac requests that staff report back to the mta cac quarterly on their findings and at the end of the pilot project. cac recommends that the tep staff use other appropriate tools on the church street project including transit preferential significants and recommends that the agency take into account all modes flowing through the dubois/church intersection whether or not through signage or signals. the next recommendation, cac recommends that the agency report back on the possibility of selecting a low-income community as a destination for a second run of the 76x marin headlands express. the next motion has to do with the tep again. cac recom

and, dan, things started happening. one of the things that gave attention to our neighborhood is when we decided we were going to have a new branch library. ruth wallace came up with the idea of a garden tour and a lot of us thought, a garden tour? our neighborhood? who is going to come? well, we had every -- we've done it for six years. every year we've grown incrementally. after the first two years of raising money for the library -- there's our new library -- we then it was such a great community builder that we recently decided to keep wanting to volunteering and do it. we established a scholarship at city college for the horticultural department. and we have just gone gangbusters. we get good press and we get to see everybody's neighbor -- all our neighbors' gardens. because of the way san francisco s you get to be veuyer because usually you have to go through their garage or their house to see the gardens. and ruth gets known through the neighborhood because she's constantly peeking over fences and leaving fliers
